Tributes paid to Senior Finance Clerk

Senior Finance Clerk at the Students' Union, Krystyna Bauer, has died, aged 55.

Krystyna, who passed away on February 24, had been diagnosed with cancer in December 1999. A funeral service was held at Oxenhope on March 4.

Krystyna began working in the Sports Centre as Pool Supervisor in 1979, transferred to Students' Union as Athletics Association Secretary in January 1983 and joined the Finance Office in 1985.

Her colleague, Lesley Briggs, said: "A lively and dependable member of the team, her happy disposition and enthusiasm will be greatly missed. An indication of her popularity was the number of colleagues, past and present, staff and sabbaticals, many of whom travelled some distance, who attended her funeral service."

Krystyna leaves husband Jacques, a son Mathieu and daughter Nathalie.

A collection on behalf of Manorlands raised £750. One of her watercolour paintings is to be hung in the Union Finance Office in her memory.
