Post-Ouseley, post-riots: what does it mean to be Bradfordian? Lord Herman Ouseley, in his first formal visit to the City following the publication of his race review report, was invited to the University to give a presentation entitled 'Thinking Diversity in Bradford District. What could the Diversity Exchange contribute?' The presentation was part of a district-wide forum, entitled 'Post-Ouseley, Post-Riots: What Does It Mean To Be Bradfordian?', which was organised by the Department of Peace Studies' Programme for a Peaceful City and sponsored by the University in partnership with Bradford Vision. Professor Jenny Pearce was responsible for organising the day, together with Maite Alvarez and Ute Buhler, of Peace Studies. The Cadbury Trust provided a grant for the forum. Lord Ouseley encouraged people to be more positive about the ideas that were working and making the city a vibrant place. He told the 200-strong audience in the John Stanley Bell Lecture Theatre: "The important thing is for it to be promoted and marketed. We need to increase knowledge and awareness of things in Bradford that are happening and things that are working and how progress demonstrates inclusiveness. "I am proud to have been part of Bradford's history and part of this process and what you are trying to do." The day focused on a concrete initiatives that emerged out of the Ouseley Report and which are being actively explored by Bradford Vision: The Diversity Exchange.
