BRADFORD CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PRAISED FOR ITS QUALITY OF TEACHING
The Centre achieved 21 out of 24 in the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education's Subject Review and received top marks in the areas of student progression and achievement; student support and guidance; learning resources; and quality management and enhancement. It was praised for its wide access for prospective students, especially from ethnic backgrounds. The assessors described the ethnic profile at the Centre as "remarkable" and one which is "rarely found at any university." The assessors noted that the programme offered flexibility and choice in its undergraduate degrees and they were impressed by the extensive range of postgraduate courses, which have an international reputation. The staff were praised for their high quality teaching methods and for being friendly, helpful and approachable. Open Days were noted as a considerable strength, as was the international students induction programme. Head of BCID, Patrick Ryan, said: "We were pleased by the review team's appreciation of the distinctive practical orientation and multi-disciplinary content of BCID programmes and the support we are able to give to a broad range of local and international students."
