Welcome to the Academic Quality Units' external examiner information and resource page.  Here you will find useful information for new and existing External Examiners, for staff appointing external examiners and for the University's response to the QAA Code of Practice for External Examining.

Code of Practice for External Examining

The University Code of Practice on External Examining is intended to provide a comprehensive guide to regulations and policy, to offer examples of good practice, and to demonstrate clearly how the University meets the precepts of the QAAHE's Code of Practice for external examining.

The Code of Practice should be read in conjunction with the Regulations on External Examiners for Award-Bearing Taught Courses of Study, which is available in the Quality Assurance Handbook

The University's Code of Practice and Regulations are applicable to external examining at the University and partner institutions where courses are validated or franchised.

Annual Report

Please complete the online Annual Report form by the deadline in order to receive your annual fee payment (For undergraduate units and courses the deadline is 30 September or four weeks after the last board of examiners for the previous session and for postgraduate units and courses the deadline is 30 November or four weeks after the last board of examiners whichever is the sooner for the previous academic session).
