Here is an introduction to some of the postgraduate reseach projects associated with the Centre for Conflict Resolution
David Manus Curran - "My name is David Curran, I am 22 years old and am from Scotland. I am currently writing an MPhil which investigates the development of British peacekeeping doctrine. It examines the role that Britain played in peacekeeping operations and what influence this has had on current policy."
Alexander Ramsbotham runs the UN and Conflict Unit, a research programme within the NGO the United Nations association-UK. It specialises in the UN's role in maintaining peace and security. His PhD thesis looks into the joint G8/African plan to establish an African standby peacekeeping capacity by 2010. It focuses on some of the issues and problems in attempting to realise that ambition, including the relationships between the UN and the African Union and between the G8 and the AU, and within all of these institutions. It then questions how these issues might impact upon delivering effective African peacekeeping.
