If you would be interested in taking this course or if you want more information on Distance Learning opportunities at the Department of Peace Studies, please email the Distance Learning Development Team.

How the course is assessed:

The course contains six major units; each followed by a couple of questions. After completing the reading in each unit, students will respond to one of questions in a brief paragraph of 200-300 words and send that to the instructor by email or fax. The units and case studies also contain "discussion points," which students are encouraged to discuss in the class newsgroup. The instructor will provide detailed feedback on student work and is available via email for questions.

The final evaluation will consist of a short essay, at least 1000 words, in which each student will evaluate a conflict intervention of his/her choice, possibly one in which the student has been involved. Students are encouraged to relate their own experience to the course content in this essay.

Don't panic if English is not your first language: while you should be able to write clearly in English in order to take this course, we have extensive experience with foreign students and will make suggestions for improvement as well as allowances for mistakes.
